Embracing the Homestead Journey: A Christian Homeschool Mom's Adventure

Welcome to our humble corner of the internet, where faith, family, and farm life intertwine in a beautiful tapestry of God's grace. My name is Tobey, and I am thrilled to embark on this blogging adventure with you, dear reader.

Meet our Family

For the past 11 years, I have had the privilege of being a Christian homeschool mom, guiding and nurturing my children's education within the comforting walls of our home. But our journey extends far beyond textbooks and lesson plans; it's a journey that led us from the bustling confines of a suburban subdivision to the wide-open spaces of a 40-acre farm.

It seems like just yesterday when I could gaze out from my back porch and count 27 neighboring houses. But eight years ago, my family made a life-altering decision to trade the hustle and bustle for a simpler, more purposeful existence. With a lot of prayer and a heart full of dreams, we embraced the challenges and blessings of rural life.

The back yard view in our first home. It really was a fun back yard to start and grow our little family. So many houses around!

Our homestead began modestly, with just a few chickens scratching in the dirt and a tiny garden patch brimming with potential. But as the seasons passed and our love for this land deepened, our little slice of paradise blossomed into a thriving sanctuary for both humans and animals alike.

Picture 1 - Our first little garden on our new property. It was cute but did not make it through the summer. About 2 weeks after we planted it, the trees grew the rest of their leaves and we realized just how shade-covered the garden was. Picture 2 and 3 our first flock of chickens. Picture 4 - The first farm-raised eggs we collected. The kids were thrilled!

Today, our little farm is alive with the rhythm of nature. We share our days with four majestic horses, eight playful donkeys, four spirited goats, thirteen chickens, four cats, and three loyal dogs. Each animal has become more than just a resident of our farm; they are cherished members of our family with so much personality, teaching us invaluable lessons about compassion, responsibility, and the circle of life.

But our journey doesn't end with the care of our beloved animals. As stewards of this land, we have embraced the art of sustainable living, cultivating a bountiful raised-bed garden that nourishes both body and soul. From the first tender shoots of spring to the final harvest of autumn, we marvel at God's abundant provision and the miracle of growth.

Yet, our homestead is more than just a haven for farm animals and garden plants; it is a canvas for creativity and ingenuity. From small DIY projects to ambitious remodels, we have transformed our humble home into a sanctuary of warmth and beauty. With each swing of the hammer and stroke of the paintbrush, we honor the gifts that God has bestowed upon us and the talents He has entrusted to our care.

But above all else, this blog is a testament to the faith that guides our journey. As Christian homeschoolers, we believe that every aspect of life is an opportunity to glorify God and spread His love to others. Through our triumphs and trials, we seek to inspire and encourage fellow believers, offering a glimpse into the joys and challenges of faith-filled living.

So, whether you're a seasoned homesteader, a curious homeschooler, or simply a kindred spirit seeking connection, I invite you to join us on this adventure of faith, family, and farm life. Together, let us cultivate a community rooted in love, gratitude, and the unwavering belief that with God, all things are possible.

Blessings,

Tobey
